Laveranues Coles appears to be on the New York Jets rader, AGAIN. You have heard of Web 2.0, well here is Laveranues Coles 3.0. No it’s not an upgraded software, it’s the 32 ex-Jet who is looking to come back to the team that drafted him.
The Jets are considering the WR to probably fill the third reciever slot. In past, Laveranues Coles has been the number one reciever, but with the addition of Edwards and a younger Cotchery, Laveranues will have to settle for a limited role.
At 32, Laveranues Coles is probably nearing the end of his career and he is coming off the worst season of his career but he contests that Carson Palmer has been stated as to saying he hated playing with Coles.
The Jets are also rumored to be looking at the Wide Receiver position in the draft, specifically Golden Tate. I would imagine that the Jets are going to take their time with resigning him if the do end up pursuing him. There isn’t a huge market for Coles and although he’s 32, I still think if we don’t draft a young slot receiver, he would fit in nicely.
With Brad Smith as our slash, he isn’t a full time receiver and the jury is going to be out on David Clowney. I think that science project should come to end very soon.
The final four rule would not apply as Rich Cimini states:
The Jets will take their time before making a decision on Coles, perhaps waiting until after the draft next month, but he might be an option if he agrees to a relatively modest one-year contract. He’s definitely on their radar.
In this case, the Jets wouldn’t be restricted by the new “Final Four” rule because Coles was released by a team and isn’t an unrestricted free agent. The rule, designed to prevent the top four playoff teams from spending wildly in an uncapped year, restricts the Jets from signing an unrestricted free agent until they lose one. They haven’t lost one yet.
So what do you think? Should we give Laveranues Coles a third stint? Do you want him back? Let us Know!
