Kerry Rhodes Traded to the Arizona Cardinals

Kerry is Gone!

by Erik Manassy on March 6, 2010

Kerry Rhodes was traded to the Arizona Cardinals tonight for a 4th round pick in this year’s draft and a 7th in the 2011 draft.  Kerry has been in the press all year with questions about his attitude and play on the field saying the player was not dedicated in years past.

The “tell” from Tannebaum yesterday when confronted about if Kerry would receive his bonus was when he said that he expected Rhodes back “unless something happens.”  Well guess what, SOMETHING happened, but I don’t think it was JUST from yesterday.

I believe this was part of the plan all along as it was known that Kerry and his defensive coordinator had some “conversations” and the tense relationship sometimes made it out into the public.

As of 7:50pm tonight, Kerry’s twitter account has been quiet.  Jets Twit would like to personally thank Kerry Rhodes for interacting with us on our blog and on twitter.  In fact, my first interaction into the sports world via Twitter was with Rhodes.  I really don’t know how to take this news.

Kerry was a favorite player of mine on the Jets and I’m a little shocked he is no longer on the Jets.

Kerry, THANK YOU for all you did for the Jets!  Good luck on the Cardinals and we know you will have success!

I don't hate that this trade has happened, but I am surprised how (relatively) little it took.

Like some Jets fans, and unlike many others, I'm not for hating on Kerry. I do think he could have left more on the field in many games but he did a job. And he did it well enough that I'd have welcomed him being on the roster this year.

However, he didn't do his job SO WELL that there isn't somebody else that can come and do it. And whoever comes in will be Rex and a Mike T player.

And who isn't excited by that?
