Mike DeVito, defensive tackle for the New York Jets, joined his fellow Jets on Twitter opening an account on February 26th. Thanks to our friend @nacarano (Robert, who runs the South Florida Jets fan club) who tweeted that he found Big Mike’s account on Monday March 1st.
Nacarano: Hey #Jets fans @MikeDeVito70 is now on Twitter!

Mike ’s big play of the year happened in the regular season game vs. the Colts when Painter replaced Manning at the goal line. Mike came in and leveled the quarterback causing a fumble and the Jets to recover in the end-zone.
Typically when someone on Twitter thinks they found a celebrity, it’s sometimes difficult to authenticate that it’s really who they say they are without real proof. Nick Mangold put those questions to rest when he sent out a tweet telling his fan base to follow Mike:
nickmangold: To all my Jets people: check out @MikeDeVito70 for some more J.E.T.S. Jets-Jets-Jets excitement
Last year, someone created a Thomas Jones account and had the base fooled until the Jets officially stepped in and shut the account down working with Twitter.
Another way to know that the celebrity is authentic is by looking for a “Verified Account” icon next to their profile:
Just because a celebrity does not have an icon, doesn’t mean that it’s a fake. This was Twitter’s attempt to validate authentic accounts but it requires a couple of hoops for that person to go through to get this icon. Not all celebrities are going to jump at that chance. Kerry Rhodes is the only Jets player who has this icon.
