Full Court Press to Sell 2010 Tickets

Free Tickets

by Erik Manassy on November 18, 2009

Tonight I received an email inviting me and a guest to a private tour of the clubs at the new stadium:

Yesterday, I received an email about the Jets referral program to sell tickets. Two emails in two days.  I would say that the Jets are getting desperate to fill the stadium with season ticket holders for next year.  If they are willing to give up two tickets to the three remaining games this year just for a tour, I would say they are pulling out all their tricks.  You have to assume that even if the two tickets they are giving you for the tour are in the upper deck, they still go for $75.00 each.

I find this interesting because they sent this offer to me, a 2009 season ticket holder AND already a 2010 ticket holder.  It looks like the Club Seats are not filling like they would have wanted but they are so over priced for the average joe.  They are trying to get a person like me who already have lower bowl to upgrade into a club seat.

Here is why I won’t upgrade:

  • I tailgate before the game.  I get all my food and drink in the parking lot.
  • I like to be in the crowd.  If I want to be in a fancy restaurant, I’ll go to a fancy restaruant.
  • I’m not spending big bucks for game day food.
  • I’ve been in boxes before and it is a different game experience.  You feel disconnected from the game.

I’m sure this is a great perk for people living in the city who take the train, but for me, a guy who loves to be in the crowds with the people before and during the game, find the club a little too stuffy.  I don’t know, call me crazy.
