Ochocinco: “I am the 1st Athlete with an iPhone App” – WRONG: Sanchez Was!

Ochocinco, aka Chad Johnson, boasts he is the first athlete with an iPhone application, launching his app “The Ochocinco Experience“.

Mark Sanchez had an iPhone application before Ocho did which is was available in August and I purchased it for 99 cents.  Today, I went to the store to capture screens shots and grab the product link but discovered it is no longer in the apps store.

I remember reading that Jordan Palmer is a part of the company, Rock Software,  that develops iPhone apps for athletes.   In the article, Palmer was getting attention for launching Sanchez’ app and had Ocho’s in the works.  I was able to dig up this article that confirms Sanchez’ app.

To quote:

Bengals backup quarterback Jordan Palmer spent the offseason working on a business venture with two California friends. Their company develops individualized iPhone applications for athletes, allowing them to connect with fans on the go. They rolled out one for Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, and expect to have Ochocinco’s app approved by Apple and launched before the season starts.

I am curious why the app was removed from the store, but I will say that it is still functioning on my iPhone.

I also visited the official Rock Software software homepage and noticed it isn’t listed on their applications directory. Along with the app “Ochocinco“, the company had developed “RunPee“.  Three applications are listed (coming soon) with the most notable called “Mark Cuban’s Puzzle Palace“.  Interesting.

If you were fortunate like me, you were able to snag the Mark Sanchez iPhone application and can still enjoy it today.  If you were not so lucky and would like to see it, please view the gallery below.
