With the big game tonight, I have to admit I have some personal reasons why I want the Jets to win and WIN BIG. You see, at work, there seems to be more Dolphins fans than Jets fans and of course I work closely with them.
Our water cooler usually consists of talking smack and how our teams will go to the super bowl yada yada yada. When the conversations get hot, usually what follows is a dare to put your money where your mouth is and a bet is formed.
No, these bets are not a simple handshake or for a couple of bucks. The bets are meant to embarrass the other fan in a big way. The bet is simple: the team to sweep the other wins the bet. If they play both games and they end up splitting the series, then the bet is a wash with no winner or loser.
Last year was fun because the Jets played the Dolphins for their first and last game of the season. We called it the “Book End” Bet. Here is the details of last years bet and my post about it. Last years loser had to buy the other teams Authentic Jersey with their name on it and double zeros. That was a HUGE bet, but we decided to not go that big this year!
This year is the same as it has to be a sweep to win, and a split causes the bet to be a wash. So what are we betting on this year?
Bet #1 with @darthmacgyver
The loser has to purchase a license plate frame of the other team as well as a magnet of the logo to be placed on back of the SUV. They have to be displayed for one full year.
Bet #2 with @misterAOM
The loser has to cover their iPhone with the other teams colors. Also, they have to get it skinned with the other teams logo. This also has to stay on the device for one full year.
There is no reason to show you the dolphins colors. One, I would never advertise that junk on my site, and two, I know the Jets are going to pull it off for me in the end.
